Who Are the Resistance Units?
In the face of Iran’s oppressive regime, brave individuals have risen to challenge the suffocating grip of dictatorship. These are the Resistance Units, ordinary citizens from all walks of life – students, workers, teachers, and more – who have united in their unwavering pursuit of freedom and democracy.
These opposition cells, affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK), risk their lives to dismantle the regime’s “Wall of Fear.” They work tirelessly to challenge the Iranian regime’s oppressive apparatus through acts of protest, organisation, and advocacy, bringing hope for a free and democratic Iran.
Their activities ranged from distributing leaflets and writing slogans on walls to tearing down photos of regime leaders, chanting anti-regime slogans in protests, burning regime symbols, and targeting the regime’s repressive centres.
The Resistance Units, initially teams of several people, have become larger groups and units in the process of their growth and evolution.
First established by the MEK in 2014, the Resistance Units have grown in size and numbers, with thousands of Resistance Units in operation today. Senior regime officials constantly express anxiety over the growing role of the Resistance Units inside Iran.
