As the activities of the Resistance Units have intensified, they have garnered significant international attention.
In 2024, a notable endorsement came from 4,000 lawmakers across 50 countries, including majorities in 34 parliaments. This group, along with 137 former heads of state, government officials, ambassadors, and leaders of international organisations, voiced their support for the Resistance Units. They issued a statement affirming, “As the Iranian regime has blocked all political avenues for change, the free world must, consistent with internationally recognised laws based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, recognise the rights of the Iranian people and the MEK Resistance Units to rise up and confront the IRGC.”
Additionally, many international dignitaries have actively voiced their support for the Resistance Units during various international conferences held in Europe and the United States. These expressions of support have taken place in speeches and discussions where policymakers, scholars, and influencers gather to debate and strategize on global political issues. The endorsement of the Resistance Units by these figures not only amplifies the visibility of their cause but also adds a layer of legitimacy and international backing that is crucial for their efforts. This international engagement highlights the growing recognition and significance of the Resistance Units as a pivotal force in the struggle for change in Iran.
Mike Pompeo: We Must Recognise the Right of the Resistance Units to Combat the IRGC
Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has strongly supported right of the Resistance Units to combat the Iranian regime’s repressive forces, in particular their Revolutionary Guards.
Speaking at a conference north of Paris on 9 January 2025, Secretary Pompeo said:
“The roadmap (for regime change) counts on the Iranian people, the organised Resistance network inside at its core, and the ‘Resistance Units’ throughout the country.
These units must be and are the decisive force in the transformation that must be recognised… There’s only a single path, one path to the regime’s end, and that is being achieved by the Iranian people and the organised Resistance inside of Iran.
The only demand of the Resistance is that the recognition of the Iranian people’s plight to bring about the end of the regime is proper; the right of the ‘Resistance Units’ to combat the regime’s repressive forces, especially the IRGC.”
