Resistance Units’ Daring Messages on Walls in Iran

Every day, the Resistance Units take huge risk to write anti-regime slogans on the walls of Iran’s streets, a public expression of society’s sentiment in support of regime change.

Once an unimaginable taboo, today slogans such as “Death to the Dictator” and “Down with Khamenei” are a common sight in many Iranian cities.

These brave displays let the population know that the regime is no longer able to control and subdue dissent with an iron fist.

On 17 September 2024, a brave member of the Resistance Units in Mashhad, north-eastern Iran, filmed himself graffitiing on the wall the slogan: “By the martyrs’ blood we swear to stand until the end”.

On 20 September 2023, a young female member of the Resistance Units in Tehran wrote a series of daring slogans encouraging people to rise up against the clerical dictatorship.

Slogans written included:

“Down with Khamenei, Hail to Rajavi”

“The only path to freedom is to bear arms and overthrow”

“Long live the Mojahedin” (a reference to the main opposition People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran – PMOI/MEK)

“Down with the Oppressor, be it the Shah or the [Supreme] Leader”

With thousands of similar slogans propping up on walls across the country, the authorities have been unable to quell these public expressions of support for regime change.
